Vacation time

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Sorry about the untimeliness, but you’ll have to wait another two weeks for the next page, because I’ll be spending those weeks in Croatia. And just so you’re ready for it then, later down the line I’ll be gone another two weeks, but there’s a one-week slot where you should expect a couple of pages.

Meanwhile, on the long and butt-mauling bus journey that begins tonight, I will attempt to finish a draft of the entire remainder of the Ironborn script. This has little impact on you lot, of course, since you won’t get to read it. But I figured you might want to know I won’t only be sipping drinks on a beach, or whatever it is that people do in hot countries.

Server problems fixed

And here’s page 61.

I love drawing Reach, as I have since the first concepts hit my sketch pad last spring. He’s all skips and hops and exciting angles. I like to think that there’s some degree of functionality in his design, but when you get down to it he seems inevitably to have been built to look cool jumping between rooftops. And where’s the fault in that? He’s evidently quite good at it.

About bloody time

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

The scanner came back from maintenance yesterday, I’ve got my workplace back, Grandpa’s desk and all, internet connection is ticking along, and although in all a full month of this summer will be spent elsewhere, I’ll try to squeeze as much production as I can out of the available time.

Starting with page 60. Been waiting to do this scene for a long while now. I get to have a lot of fun with clothes. Mostly I turn to the oracle of Google for clothes references, but this scene has two exceptions: Vanna’s dress, which I made up entirely because I couldn’t find anything online that worked (my mother’s reaction was asking me to sew her one, which made it completely worthwhile). The other is Meager’s suit, which I adapted from album photos of my father’s attire at his doctor’s graduation.
